SEATTLE (FOP) Nov. 28, 2012 Starbucks today announced the most expensive ever addition to their drink menu, a $7 cup of coffee, as reported by several news outlets. Worldwide attention was immediately focused on Dallas-based Finding Order Software, publishers of the much-beloved AppWrangler utility application for Mac. The company issued the following statement:
“We’ve always viewed the cost of our application relative to that of an expensive drink at Starbucks as a key measure of product value. At this time we’ve decided to hold our pricing at $4.99, which effectively increases its value according to the SADPI (Starbucks Average Drink Price Index). We don’t consider ourselves to be particularly greedy, and are delighted to pass this value on to our customers. It is now actually possible for customers to accumulate funds of $7, purchase AppWrangler for $4.99, and have $2.01 left over that can be used to buy a Diet Coke, a few bags of M&Ms, or somesuch.”
Financial markets responded positively to the news, with the S&P 500 index closing up 10.99 at 1409.93.
